Independence

Happy Birthday to America, a country I am so happy to live in. I'm looking forward to a very special family BBQ that will be catered this year, following an annual party at my friend Jordan's house. Fireworks are my favorite part about today's celebration. There is something so magical about the lights in the sky and sparkle that appears all over. I have today off, for the first time and I'm definitely going to enjoy it with my amazing friends and family. I hope you all have a fantastic Holiday. -xx Christine

Summer Bronzers

As the hotter days start arriving, Brozer is my best friend.... I don't have time to lay out every day. And well, my skin wouldn't like to turn into leather either, so a great bronzer is the best option. Don't let dark colored bronzers scare you. Also, try to avoid lighter, more orange tones because they will appear fake. You do not want to be called a carrot. My favorite two pictured below are NARS sin/casino, and Tarte's Park Avenue Princess. Between the two, they're on my face for three months straight.
Maybe this will help you pick the right color for your skin tone.

1. Too Faced Caribbean In A Compact in Sun Bunny $36
2. Tarte Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess $38
3. NARS Highlight/Bronzing Blush Duo in Sin/Casino $50
4. Cargo Beach Blush in Coral Beach $30
5. Rimmel London Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze 002 $7.49
6. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Soft Matte Bronzer $40
7. The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder in 04 Deep Matte $18.50
8. Revlon Colorstay Mineral Bronzer in Deep Bronze $14.39
9. Benefit Cabana Glama Bronzing Kit $20
10. Guerlain Beaute terracotta Light in 05 Sun Brunettes $58

If you're a bronzer addict like me, then all of these should be put on your wish list, if you don't already have them!

Monday, July 2, 2012

oh, It's Monday.

Monday mornings are always the hardest for me... Despite whether I worked or played on the weekend, it's the start to a very long week. For the first time in a long time, I pressed the snooze button on my alarm clock about 3 times. I still managed to get ready on time and even stop for coffee. Without caffeine I would be screwed. As I yawn while I type this.. I'm thinking about how my ONE day off this week will be. I have the fourth of July off, shockingly I can't believe it. Looking forward to a family BBQ then a friends party. Hope your Monday is a little more awake than mine is going. -xx Christine

State Shaped Cutting Boards

A. Heirloom is a husband and wife collaboration from Brooklyn who makes state shaped cutting boards. They came up with the idea when they wanted a creative way to display cheese on their wedding day. Each butcher block is made of 100% rapidly renewable bamboo in the USA. When ordering your cutting board you can add a heart, star, or house engraved onto the block to mark your favorite city or home town. With 50 state shaped boards to choose from at only $48, this makes for a perfect gift. A cutting board is an item that people use on a daily basis in their home. Making it something special would be a gift to remember.
A Heirloom also sells bamboo skewers ranging from $12-$20.
If you're looking for a special housewarming gift, or a little something special for a friend, go ahead and do some shopping on their website... A. Heirloom!! -happy shopping

June Birchbox

Having this months Birchbox come relatively early was total bliss. I was curious to see what was awaiting inside as I picked up the box and it was heavy. I can now see why!
I have a few mini vacations planned to the beach which is where I'd love to live someday.. The Birchbox team was right. They put together a box of products worth trying in a hot, traveling, kind of month!

I haven't been disappointed by Birchbox yet. The products that their team chooses to bring out, always have something to do with the month and season. On the plus side, unlike other services, the products you get are  very generous in size and lasts me a long time so I know if I would want to purchase them.

Stila is one of my favorite brands when it comes to lip products (after discovering the Lip Stick through Birchbox). I have never tried a Stila face product until this one. The beauty balm is somewhat of a BB Cream with a little more coverage than your average foundation. It left my skin dewey and not oily, which is a miracle.

Another scent to put on my Summer wishlist. This fragrance is not over-powering and unusual. It's always nice to find a smell that not everyone is wearing. Designer and celebrity perfumes are just getting too publicised for the money rather than the way the product actually sells. A lot of people will put their face on the front of anything if it gets them a million dollars. I'll be enjoying the smell of this throughout my week!

I have never used a lip or cheek stain before... (well, somewhat trying benefit benetint, and hating it) so the Stainiac sample by The Balm was an interesting find. I'll definitely get to experiment with it more this weekend. The problem I have using stains rather than lipsticks is the moisture effect. As long as I keep a lip balm over the top I am usually fine, but there is nothing worse than chapped and dry lips!

This is the first product I jump at when I opened my Birchbox! I used it last night before bed, and it left my face smelling fresh and clean. I'm pretty sure it made me sleep better!

The Birchbox bonus this month was a ModCloth headband. Also found at the bottom of the box.. a ModCloth couopn for $10 off $75 or more. I am not a huge fan of the clothing company. It's a little simple and (etsy-like) for the money.. but I'll put this metal and fabric headband to good use and wear it on my days off while lounging around at home. The pattern is just as cute as a button!

Sign-Up for Birchbox HERE!
You could always try it for a month.
Trust me, you'll fall in love with it like I have!

To You, Dad

{photo circa 2012 in Santa Cruz, Ca --our favorite place}

He's the one who knows me best, an loves me unconditionally. He's the first one I call when I'm ecstatic with great news, or to cry to when I feel like everything is going wrong. He taught me self respect, honesty, to put others before myself, and to always reach for the stars. He's my best friend and my biggest fan, and the one person I can always count on. He's the strongest man, and funniest person I know. Not even a million Father's Days could express how lucky and thankful I am to have him in my life. I Love You Dad.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY and thank you!  -christine

Where Has Christine Been?!

It has been one of the busiest weeks I've had in a very long time! Luckily, I didn't have school to worry about or I would have been a sunken ship.

Thursday - Buchanan's Graduation.
Friday- BINGO at the Casino.
Saturday- Date Night in Riverpark.
Sunday- Brittany's Grad Party.
Monday- Bullard's Graduation.
Tuesday- Mom's Birthday & chores.

(Add work to every day except Monday and Tuesday)...

I've seriously gotten 4-5 hours of sleep  every night. But I've got to enjoy my Summer vacation while I can right?

There will be lots of fun and exciting posts coming up to look forward to. Hope you had an exceptionally fantastic weekend!

Six Things

The weather here in California has been very bipolar yet beautiful. This week just started off on the wrong foot. My Monday started off at 7am by getting scolded by my boss and finding out that a close family friend had passed away. To put the icing on the cake I finally managed to take my car to the mechanic to fix the air conditioning and defroster yesterday, which left me car-less for a couple days. I've managed to stay as positive as possible while keeping a smile on my face. I have the most supportive father and some of the best friends anyone could ask for so that always helps.
In the midst of my issues I turn to my favorite blogs to brighten up my day and get a little inspiration. Below are six images (on June sixth) that I'm currently loving, photographed by my favorite bloggers.
I hope you enjoy your middle of the week "hump day". I'll be napping in the sun and doing laundry!

RZ Morrison Bag

A couple days ago Rachel Zoe tweeted a photo of her and Mandana (VP of Rachel Zoe Inc) showing us a sneek peek of her Autumn/Fall 2012 line. Tweeting: "Me and @mandanadayani with our Rachel Zoe Fall 2012 Morirson Bags, named after my son." Today, she uploaded this Facebook photo pictured above showing their matching outfits and the black bag, named after her son Skyler Morrison Berman born a little over a year ago. I can't wait to get my hands on this. BA-NAN-AS!!!

Watch Out

Owning a nice watch has always been an item I've wanted to save for but never really had the chance. There's always something more important that needs to be paid for first.. like the speeding ticket that almost broke my bank account. Now that it's paid for and Summer is approaching, I'm eyeing these six luxury watches at the moment that would make for some pretty amazing arm candy. Kate Spade and Michael Kors are my favorite brands when it comes to classic time pieces. I love the over-sized look MC is known for ("the boyfriend style") and the little tint of pink Kate Spade puts in. Rose Gold looks the best on my skin tone, but I'ts always a necessity to have some silver in your jewelry box as well. I'm dying over the brown MC tortoise shell watch. Yes Please!WATCH OUT

Casetagram

iPhone cases have always been an impulse buy for me. I'll walk into Target, or Best Buy or come across something cute online and instantly want it. The same case on your phone for a long period of time becomes boring.

Lets face it, I don't use my case to protect my phone, but I have it on mostly for looks. Sure it helps when I drop it (which is almost never) so why put on a bulky and ugly case on just to make your phone bigger!?

As I was reading Just B, I came across a picture of a case she had taken a picture of. It was a photo collage of all her favorite Instagram photos! Coolest idea ever.

On Casetagram you can create your own iPhone case using your favorite Instagram photos for only $34.95 with free shipping.

The case I designed has pictures of my bestfriends, animals, favorite desserts, nail polish, and pretty views that I'd love to look at on a daily basis.

The best part is that no one will have the same case as you, and it would definitely be a conversation starter.

Since it is graduation season and all, this would make a perfect give for a friend if they have an iPhone. I'm so happy I discovered this thanks to Brooke Andersen!

Cynthia Rowley Band-Aids

Designer Band Aids can't get much cuter than this! Sequins and Gold Chains... What more can you ask for in covering up a boo boo? I saw them at Target and couldn't pass them up!

In her second collaboration with Band Aids, Cynthia Rowley makes your paper cuts look good. I don't wear bandages very often (which is a good thing, I guess) but when I do get a blister from a pair of shoes, I know what I'll be wearing over it.

Not only has Cynthia Rowley designed fashionable Band Aids for the every day typical scrape, but she's come out with a "Beach Sport Kit" as well. The thicker ocean themed patterned bandages are 100% waterproof and Neosporin infused so the Summer time heat won't stop you from swimming or getting wet.

*The designer Band Aids run between $3 - $10 in select stores and online!

Frosted Cakery

I know today was "National Doughnut Day", but I'd much rather have a cupcake than a doughnut. Last week Maureen and I stopped by our favorite cupcake shop to pick up some treats. I played it safe by ordering vanilla bean and salted caramel, while Maureen opened up and tried Strawberry Lime Margarita and Chocolate Fudge. She said they were delicious, and she was right! I took a bite of the Strawberry Lime Margarita and it tasted exactly like the name! Frosted Cakery is the cutest shop in Tower District decorated with "Tiffany" blue and  white accents. I am telling you that the salted caramel is the most delicious dessert I've ever tasted. If you're ever around Fresno stop in and try something. you won't be disappointed!

May Birchbox

This months Birchbox was all about Gossip Girl's "Black Tie Ball". The samples in the box were completely perfect for the uptown lady. I am pretty much ecstatic each month I receive my box, but when I opened this one I full out gasped! The first product that caught my eye was the Dior Mascara (very generous in size). I've always wanted to try an expensive designer mascara but never splurged to buy one. After wearing the Diorshow Extase Mascara all week, I've fallen in love with how good it makes my lashes look.

Since the weather in California has been extremely beautiful and sunny, shorts and dresses have been rotating through my closet, as well as neon cropped pants! During the day I rub on the Miracle Skin Transformer which is a tinted lotion that has SPF 20. It erases all the imperfections and protects me from the sun. My Birchbox sample came with a pretty large size tube that's lasted a couple weeks. I know for sure I will have some re-purchases in June! I've also been enjoying Miss Dior at night when I go out.It is the perfect night time scent with a mix of florals and musk.

The Shu Uemura Shampoo is the only product I have not used yet, but I know I'll get to it soon. There is a special oil that transforms into a foam that leaves your hair clean and bouncy, so I'm sure I'll that as well.
The "Birchbox Extra" this month was a notecard that reads "xoxo" on the front and blank on the inside, made perfect for a short sweet reminder of how much you care about that special someone

Birchbox is the best way to discover new beauty and lifestyle products from high end brands for only $10 a month. Plus you earn points with every purchase that you can redeem for products!

Considering the month of June is a mere 2 days away, I always say "better late than never"!
My goal of the Summer is to blog every day starting June 1st, up until my fourth semester of college, which starts in August. Blogging is like a scrapbook of inspiration that I look forward to, and hope you do too.

Brain Freeze Alert!

As June approaches, so does the nation's largest all-you-can-eat ice cream festival. The 30th Annual "ScooperBowl" will take place June 5-7 at Boston's City Hall Plaza. Endless amounts of frozen yogurt, ice cream, and sorbet from the nation's leading ice cream companies are served from noon to 8pm. The best part is that all proceeds go to cancer research, already raising over $3 million since 1983. Since ice cream is my favorite dessert and cancer plays a huge part in my life, what better way to support!

The tickets are only $10 for adults (ages 10 and up) and only $5 for children (ages 3 to 9). For more information on the "Scooperbowl", check out the website... Happy Ice Cream eating for everyone!

Neon Summer

I am starting my search for the perfect Summer handbag, and there are so many bright bold beauties to choose from! Neon colors are popping up everywhere and I can't help but to love them all. Throw on any outfit, and add a bright bag for that extra pop of color. Normally I always choose a large tote for my go-to purse, because I can pretty much throw everything I need inside. The cross-body bags are so cute too. Maybe I'll decide on one of those for a new change. Either way I want them all! Neon Summer

Met Gala 2012

The Met Gala is one of the biggest nights in fashion. Yes, bigger than the Oscars in most cases. You get every major Oscar star and every major fashion designer all on one red carpet. It's spectacular! "At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, fashions finest are celebrating Prada as well as Elsa Schiaparelli, who together comprise the costume institute's new exhibition, Impossible Conversations."

Last year the Alexander McQueen "Savage Beauty" exhibit was the most popular exhibit of all time, bringing in 661,509 people in only 4 months. The exhibit was special not only because his work was genius, but the fact that he committed suicide the night before New York Fashion Week last year. It got to showcase all of his hard work and show the world his beauty. This year "Impossible Conversations" is expected to be fantastic. Muiccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli have some outstanding pieces to showcase.

Trashique Fashion Show 2012

Some of the years finest trash was displayed at this years fashion show, “Trashique”. Hundreds attended this event to support the Fresno Art Museum. It was a benefit fashion show held on April 21st that asked designers to create clothing from recycled materials. Remember that episode on Project Runway? One of my best friends walked the catwalk. There were so many amazing designs.. My favorite being the Baskin Robins Ice Cream dress. Delicious!

Inside Emily's Room

Meet Emily. She's brings out my adventurous side and inspires me to do what I love.
Let's take a peek inside her room. It's pretty fabulous just like her.
