Physicians Formula City Glow Bronzer

Physicians Formula came out with two new products in the beginning of the year: The City Glow Defense Bronzer with SPF 30 in New York and Paris. I just came across them in my local Target a couple weeks ago and completely fell in love with the packaging. These bronzers are hypoallergenic, oil free, paraban free, fragrance free, and dermatologist approved so they are very gentle on the skin. I tend to wear blush all Winter long and then I wear bronzer throughout the Summer.

The best feature about these bronzers is that they give a subtle glow and they don't cake on your face like a cheap bronzing powder would. It's hard to keep makeup from melting of your face in the warmer months. I know this Summer in California it is suppose to be in the ninety and hundreds pretty much every day. I bought the New York shade because I felt it would work better with my skin tone, to top it off I've visited the city a few times and happen to love it. I like that I can apply it over a BB Cream and it stays on my face all day feeling natural. My skin tends to get pretty oily throughout the day but with this bronzer I don't need to re-apply it like I normally would with other products. I still haven't tried the color in Paris, however I would like to in the future.

The New York color is a cooler tone where the Paris color has more a more warm and peachy tone. The great thing about all of Physicians Formula products is that they are a great price (this bronzer retailing for $14.95) and they use all natural ingredients made for sensitive skin! You can purchase these products at any local drugstore or department store, or buy them direct online at Physicians Formula.

Santa Cruz, California

Santa Cruz will always hold a special place in my heart. It is the only part of the ocean I can go to and feel completely at peace. I spent most of my childhood here with my fathers side of the family, whom have now passed away. The memories I hold with my grandmother here will never be forgotten, and whenever I visit I can't help but feel her by my side. Not only does Santa Cruz make me the happiest girl in the world but the ocean alone is beautiful. There is something so soothing about the sound that the waves make when the tide hits the rocks.

I can see that life can be a lot like the ocean. It can be smooth, calm, or rough but in the end it is always beautiful. I've lost most of my immediate family (and almost my father) to cancer, therefor that has given me a reason to be grateful every day. I truly enjoy all aspects of life, I feel that there is always something positive even on the bad days. I have so much love in my heart and Santa Cruz just brings that out even more. My father and I took a day trip for Father's Day this year and it was such an enjoyable trip for both of us since we hadn't visited together in a couple of years. We got to spend some quality father-daughter time together and re-live some of those memories of when I was a child.

If you have never been to Santa Cruz before, I recommend that everyone go at least once. It's located on the northern edge of Monterrey Bay, and home to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. There are many fun things to do here including: whale watching, the boardwalk, the casino arcade, the mystery spot, downtown santa cruz, among many others. It is also a perfect setting for a family vacation. Maybe you'll find the love that I have found for this beautiful, and magical city.

Fruit Infused Detox Water

Drinking water alone is one of the best things you can do for your body. It helps regulate body temperature, protect vital organs, and even improve the way you look. By adding different fruits, vegetables, and herbs to your water it can add a lot of health benefits to your lifestyle. There are a ton of different recipes you can make to customize to your liking.

The top five recipes include:
1. Lemon, Mint, and Cucumber
2. Strawberries, Kiwi, and Orange
3. Orange, Blueberries, and Raspberries
4. Lime, Orange, and Lemon
5. Raspberries, Lemon, and Mint

Adding fruit to your water not only makes it taste better but it flushes toxins from your system, fills you up so you don't eat as much, keeps food moving through your body, improves your mood, and gives you natural energy. I always like to use the VOSS glass water bottles because you can clean and reuse them. I have two small bottles to take with me, and 1 large bottle that I keep in the fridge. Starting from left to right, the first bottle just has cucumber and lemon slices. The larger middle bottle has cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries, and lemon slices. The last small bottle has strawberries, blueberries, lemon, raspberries, and orange slices. If you want your bottle to have a lot of color then you should put in a lot of different types of fruit depending on what you want it to taste like, you can mix and match to make a variety of different fruit infused waters. Personally I don't drink enough water, especially in the winter. I thought that by infusing my water with fruit it would give me a reason to enjoy it more. On the plus side, it looks pretty and still has zero calories. I got this idea off of Pinterest and if you're looking  to help you lose weight, there are specific recipes for detoxing and to help boost your metabolism.

Film Alert - Jeremy Scott Documentary

Jeremy Scott is known for being the most wanted designer in the music industry. He designs and styles some of the worlds most known singers such as: Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna who will appear in his upcoming documentary which will hit theaters mid September.

"As a kid, on a farm, in a small town, looking at magazines and seeing high fashion and wanting to be a part of it so badly, I didn't realize the runways were fake and that TV wasn't real," says Scott via voiceover. He continues, "I don't want to be seen as a facsimile of someone else."

I've always thought that Jeremy Scott was such an interesting person. As creative director of Moschino, his sense of style is out of this world. Definitely not your common ready-to-wear designer. He is know for stand out pieces and styling jaw-dropping outfits that will have you doing double-takes! See the exclusive trailer HERE.

Giambattista Valli for MAC Cosmetics

MAC is doing lipsticks like it's never done before. French fashion designer Giambattista Valli has collaborated with MAC Cosmetics to create five new matte lipsticks that range from a fair pink to dark auburn color. Each lipstick down to the packaging looks beautiful. All the shades were inspired by fabric swatches in the Valli fashion vault. "I'm very well know for my dresses, no? And I thought it was very nice, the idea of dressing your lips", says Valli. He wanted to create a diverse range of colors that would reflect his design aesthetic: floral hues and standout textures. "The texture is matte because it really gives you something graphic and modern. It's good for the daytime, but for the party you're going to wear glossy," he said. "It's like the cocktail dress, you can wear it with flats during the day to the office and then you can change the shoes like you can do with the glossy, do it more fun."
[from left : Bianca B, Margherita, Tats, Charlotte, and Eugenie & Crystal Glaze Gloss in Lena]
The lipstick collection and gloss will be available for purchase on July 9th at any MAC Cosmetics store or online. Each lipstick will cost around $17.50 and $23 for the gloss. Pucker Up!

Cupcakes and Cashmere Clothing Line

Emily Schuman (blogger-turned-author-turned-designer) has a unique appeal to fashion, food, and home decor. Along with her famed blog Cupcakes and Cashmere, shes a new mom, has two best selling books, and is now releasing her very own clothing collection. I am so happy for Emily, she is such a big inspiration.

Emily Schuman is launching her clothing collection on July 6th and will exclusively be sold at Nordstroms and Shop Bop. There will be 40 pieces in the collection sold between $80-$180 (except for the real leather jackets). Her inspiration for this collection was LA (edgy, urban) San Fran (preppy, polished) and Malibu (relaxed, trendy). It will feature lace skirts with scalloped edges, floral print dresses, fisherman's sweater with distressed spine, leather jackets, and lace bottom tops.

I have been following Emily's blog since I was in high school over five years ago. I remember reading about Cupcakes and Cashmere in Teen Vogue magazine and I still read it every day since then. Emily has great taste and a good heart, and she is definitely a role model for women all over.

Summer Nails

Now that Summer has officially arrived, I've gravitated to brighter colors for my nails. This image does not do them justice in showing how bright they really are. With upcoming vacations and Summer festivities I like to be able to look down at my nails and instantly smile. I go to a small salon in my city called E Nails and I am able to choose from hundreds of different gel polishes. Every three weeks I pick a few colors and play around with mixing and matching different hues. I chose barbie pink, coral peach, and diamond-inspired silver which ended up to be a pretty neat match. I am in love with them!

Beauty Subscriptions

Which beauty subscription service is best for you?
I first discovered the world of beauty subscription services back in late 2010 when I was watching one of my favorite YouTubers, missglamorazzi (Ingrid Nilsen) and she mentioned Birchbox. The thought of getting surprise makeup products delivered to your door every month is the coolest idea ever imagined. I subscribed to Birchbox for a year starting in January 2011 and I really liked the products I was receiving. It is nice to get deluxe samples of products that you can try before purchasing them, and you get to use new products that you never knew existed. Since Birchbox was released, there had been tons of new beauty subscription services that have been introduced. Earlier this year I cancelled my Birchbox service because I was getting too many skincare products instead of makeup products. I subscribed to Glossybox (a more expensive version of Birchbox) to see if I enjoyed it more. There were some really good full-size products that came in Glossybox, but I started getting more sunscreen and moisturizers so I cancelled my subscription. About 6 months ago I subscribed to Ipsy (the same price as Birchbox) which comes in a makeup bag instead of a box. I absolutely love Ipsy, and for the price you get some fantastic products. I enjoy the makeup bags and can always use them for different things. Eventually I would like to experiment with some more of these subscription services to see which one I like best. I've only tried Birchbox, Ipsy, and Glossybox.
{Listed below are 13 different beauty subscriptions listed from lowest in price to highest. }

1. BIRCHBOX ($10 a month/$110 a year)

2. IPSY ($10 a month)

3. Lip Monthly - Everything Lips ($10 a month)

4. Beauty Box Five ($12 a month/$99 a year)

5. Petit Vour ($15 a month)

6. Allure - Sample Soiety ($18 a month)

7. Boxycharm ($21 a month)

8. Glossybox ($21 a month)

9. Beauty Fix ($25 a month)

10. MemeBox ($25 a month)

11. French Box ($36 a month)

12. New Beauty - Test Tube ($38.90 every 2 months)

13. Fab Fit Fun ($50 every 2 months)

All of these subscriptions are different in their own way. Depending on what kind of products you'd rather get in the mail. Some subscriptions have you create a beauty profile and take a quiz to somewhat customize to your taste, and others don't. For more information, visit each subscription service to see which one you might like best.

Starbucks Offers Six New Frappuccino Flavors

Since Starbucks launched the Frappuccino 20 years ago, they decided to create something new inspired by the customers love of the Frappuccino. For a short time, Starbucks released six new flavors to try: Caramel Coco Cluster, Cupcake, Red Velvet Cake, Cinnamon Roll, Cotton Candy, and Lemon Bar. From June 19-30 customers can vote for their favorite blended drink on Frappuccino.com! The winning drink will be announced on July 3rd, then from the July 3rd through the 6th customers will be able to purchase the drink at a special price of $3 for a grande from 2-5pm only.
I've only tried two out of six (Caramel Coco Cluster and Cupcake) and I really liked the first one. The cupcake tasted way too much like hazelnut and not enough of vanilla for my tasting.

The Six New Frappuccino Flavors (from left to right) Include:
1. Caramel Coco Cluster: toffee nut syrup, coffee, milk, ice, topped with mocha drizzle, and whipped cream
2. Cupcake: vanilla bean, hazelnut syrup, coffee, milk, ice, and whipped cream
3. Red Velvet: mocha sauce, raspberry syrup, vanilla syrup, frappuccino chips, milk, ice, coffee, and whipped cream
4. Cinnamon Roll: cinnamon dolce syrup, white chocolate mocha sauce, vanilla bean, coffee, milk, ice, whipped cream, and a sprinkle of cinnamon
5. Cotton Candy: vanilla bean, raspberry syrup, coffee, milk, ice, and whipped cream
6. Lemon Bar: lemonade, vanilla syrup, milk, ice, whipped cream, and sprinkled with caramel sugar

-Stop by your local Starbucks and try one of these new flavors. If you're wanting a super small size, get the new mini size just to try it out!

For The Love Of Socks

I have a weird obsession with collecting socks. I mean yes, I actually wear them. It's not like they just get stuffed in a drawer and never get used.  I usually always buy them from Target since they always have many different kinds, but since I was working out of town, I stopped in Forever 21 to see if I cute find a blazer, instead I purchased four pairs of socks that I'm sure I didn't need. There were about fifty cute patterns to chose from and I wanted them all, but these four just jumped at me first. They are all bright colors and perfect for Summer, and I just loved the donuts so much I had to get two different colors of them. At only $1.50 each, I just couldn't leave without them!

Lip Balm of the Century

-Rosebud Perfume Co.
-Smith's Rose & Mandarin Lip Balm

-Sephora (check-out line) $8

"This ultra-hydrating lip balm is formulated as an all-purpose skin preparation to heal chapped skin, razor burn, chaffed skin, diaper rash, or other minor skin irritations. It's enriched with natural rose, mandarin, and exotic spices to deeply nourish and soothe the skin, leaving behind a delicate fragrance."

I always get sucked into the "deals" and travel size products in the check-out line at Sephora, and everywhere else that I shop. I've been an avid user of the Strawberry Lip Balm made by Rosebud Perfume Co, for about five years. Suddenly I came across this Rose & Mandarin product and was instantly intrigued. Not only is it just a lip balm, you can basically use it anywhere on your body for a healing experience. Not to mention, it smells like a slice of heaven!

Hair Hungry

My natural hair color is somewhere between brown and a "dirty dishwater" blonde color. I always like to dye my hair lighter during the Summer but it's hard to get it blonde without making it look yellow, or blend well, rather than making it look streaky. I wanted to get my hair done before my mother's surprise party this past weekend, but my regular hair lady could not get me in. I ended up making a spur of the moment appointment with a new lady that some people refereed me to. I told her I wanted partial highlights on top and that I wanted it to blend really well. She did exactly that. I was so happy with the way my hair turned out. I should have taken some before pictures but I didn't. I also had her cut about 3 inches off because I had quite a few split ends.

Happy Mail - June

Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman are two sisters who write A Beautiful Mess (a woman's lifestyle blog featuring home decor projects, recipes, crafts, and style inspiration). In addition to writing their blog, they've created two best selling photo apps, and teach online classes. In 2013, they released their first book (A Beautiful Mess Photo Idea Book) and in 2014, a second book (A Beautiful Mess Happy Handmade Home). Their blog has almost 2 million view a month, and is one of the most visited blogs in the world. One day I was browsing on My Subscription Addiction's Instagram and came across Happy Mail. After looking into it I discovered A Beautiful Mess and how they have two subscription services. There is Messy Box ($19.99 a month) and Happy Mail ($15.99 a month). "In Happy Mail, subscribers get $50 (retail value) of stationary at their doorstep. This kit has handmade cards, notepads, journals, and stickers. Each month you get something new that will inspire you. Messy Box subscribers get a box of one-of-a-kind goodies like cool alpha stickers, patterned paper, and much more that you can craft with to make beautiful photo books."

This is my second month getting Happy Mail and I am so happy with it. The name says it all. I've been obsessed with stationary and cards since before I could remember. You get such a variety of cards every month (birthday, thank you, best friend, and love) that you'll rarely ever have to go out and buy any. It's also really neat that they are handmade and you should be guaranteed that not a lot of people have them. So there's no need to worry about gifting someone the same card.

Below is what came in June's Happy Mail box! Hope you enjoy.

Yellow Prickly Pear Cactus

Opuntia Robusta
I don't see too many cactus' where I live, so I never knew they could grow flowers. After looking it up, I found that it's actually very common for cacti plants to bloom different types of flowers. This particular cactus is called the prickly pear cactus (opuntia robusta) which is native to Mexico and North America. Most of them have yellow. red, or purple flowers which can vary in width, length, shape, and color. These are found in all deserts in the American Southwest among different elevation ranges. What is also interesting is that the fruits and pads of the prickly pear cactus are rich in fiber and help keep the blood sugar stable. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Ipsy Review - June 2015

If you aren't familiar with Ipsy, it is a monthly subscription beauty and makeup service for $10.82. You get  about five full-size or deluxe-size beauty products that come  in a different themed makeup bag each month. Out of all the subscription services I feel that it is the best for the price and what you get. I used to be subscribed to Birchbox (a similar beauty subscription service) but I cancelled my membership because they kept sending me foil packets and moisturizers. I like Ipsy a lot more because you get a bigger variety of makeup products that you can use to build your collection, and you can always use the cute little bag for something, instead of throwing away a box.

I was really happy with what came in my bag this month. There were a couple of things I didn't like but for the most part they are all products that I will use. I already use the Smashbox primer almost on a daily basis, so that is always good to have. I absolutely hated the smell of the body butter, it did not smell anything like vanilla. I am excited to try the lip stain, it is a perfect color for Summer. I am also really interested with the IT Cosmetics Eyebrow Pencil because I've never tried their brand before. Also, a good shadow crayon never goes to waste, especially in a neutral color-tone.

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
2. Lavanilla Labratories - The Healthy Body Butter in Pure Vanilla
3. J. Cat Beauty Liptitude Hydrating Lip Stain
4. IT Cosmetics Brow Powder Universal Eyebrow Pencil
5. treStiQue Mini Shadow Crayon in Kona Coffee

If you want to subscribe to Ipsy or order any of these products listed above, click the link ISPY!

Due to the massive amount of LUSH products I received for Christmas and Easter, (I built up quite a collection) I wanted to wait until I was just about out of everything before I went again. I decided to pick up a couple of my favorite bath bombs, (dragon's egg and twilight) as well as a couple of new products that I've never tried before! The shower jelly and dusting powder were completely new to me and I'm so glad I decided to get them. The dusting powder leaves my skin feeling silky and soft, with my arms smelling like a vanilla cupcake. They tried the shower jelly on my arm in the store and I instantly wanted to buy it afterwards. You break a little piece off and lather it directly on your skin or with a loofa. The scent smells amazing and leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturized.
LUSH Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly  $6.95 at LUSH for 3.5 oz
" Our sweetest shower jelly is also our best-seller! Between the fruity fragrance, the iridescent glitter that leaves a sparkle on your skin, and the seaweed base that leaves your skin softened and refreshed, it’s irresistible. And while we know our blackcurrant and sour cherry wobbler smells good enough to eat, we recommend you curb your cravings and hop in the shower and wash with Sweetie Pie instead. Smooth it all over your body (and your hair too!) for a sweet yet sophisticated cleansing experience."
LUSH Vanilla Puff Powder $6.95 at LUSH for 1.9 oz
"Scent your skin with vanilla and leave it silky smooth, and softly fragranced. Inspired by rich, sumptuous desserts, Vanilla Puff dusting powder is a decadent extension of our popular range of Vanillary products. Each bottle has a real vanilla pod inside that slowly infuses its sweet fragrance as you use it. Talc keeps your skin smooth and vanilla absolute helps your skin retain moisture while jasmine and tonka help with softness and to give Vanilla Puff its delicious, vanilla pudding scent. For sophisticated fragrance layering – sprinkle some on before spritzing your favorite perfume, Vanillary of course."

"Unleash fire and bathe in a whirlpool of magnificently vibrant, sizzling color and a spectacular explosion of sights, sounds, and scents. Inhale the refreshing sherbet-y citrus scent of lemon and bergamot; you'll feel like you're up and away on the back of your own dragon. This mystical Bath Bomb fizzles, crackles, curls, and ends with a glitter explosion. Citrus oils are known for their invigorating effect on the mind, and Dragon's Egg is no exception! Drop one of these into the bath for a serious wake-up call on groggy mornings, or before an evening out."
" Recreate the magic of a starry night in your bath water with clouds of lavender and tonka absolute to fight the demons of insomnia and soothe your stressed out body and mind. Our most relaxing Bath Bomb yet, Twilight is our gentle, reassuring hug for the bath to transform you from worn out to warm and fuzzy. It changes color like the sky at dusk, from pinks to purples and darker still. Lay back in the comforting herbal waters to soak your troubles far, far away."

Chanel Cleanser and CC Cream Review

I visited the Chanel counter at my local Macy's last Saturday and decided to get my makeup done as well as explore some of their skincare products. I have acne prone skin and have always used Neutrogena's Skin Clearing foundation. I have been using the same makeup for the last four years because I was afraid that if I switched to anything else it would make me break out. One of the products the lady used on my face was the Chanel CC Cream. It is smooth, and creamy, it has great coverage, and it has SPF 50 which is perfect for the Summer. I was hesitant to see what it would do to my skin but she gave me a sample to used for the next couple of days. After using the CC cream as my foundation for three days my skin started to look amazing. Instead of me breaking out, my skin cleared up and had a beautiful glow to it. Another product she recommended was the mousse cleanser which has a good moisturizing effect and is good for sensitive skin. After using both of these products for a couple weeks now I absolutely love them. I will admit that the price is expensive, but the bottles should last you a while and they do wonders on your skin. I noticed a huge difference.

Chanel Mousse Confort Cleanser: "Comforts dehydrated and sensitive skin with the de-pollution power of Tulip Tree Extract and the moisturizing properties of Arum Lily Extract. Non-drying mousse formula thoroughly and comfortably cleanses, soothes and tones, with deeply moisturizing effects."

Chanel CC Cream SPF 50: "The expertise of CHANEL research meets the artistry of the CHANEL makeup studio with CC CREAM, a fusion of skincare and long-wearing makeup with SPF benefits. Enriched with anti-aging and antioxidant properties, the lightweight, velvety CC CREAM creates a fresh, flawless complexion while nourishing and protecting skin. A complex peach extract, a unique age-defying ingredient unique to CHANEL, helps visibly reduce wrinkles and fine lines while smoothing skin. It also features a natural marine extract to comfort the complexion, hyaluronic acid to help skin maintain optimal hydration levels all day long by retaining moisture inside skin and SPF 50 sunscreen, which effectively blocks age-accelerating UVA/UVB rays. Dark spots, redness and pores are visibly diminished for a fresh, natural long-lasting finish with moderate makeup coverage."
