7-Eleven Turns 88 Today

Today 7-Eleven turns 88 years old and is celebrating once again with their annual free slurpee day!

"The popular frozen treat came to be after, in 1965, a 7-Eleven zone manager visiting a store in Texas, noticed an Icee machine and thought it had great sales potential for 7-Eleven stores. Although they were originally sold as "Icees," the name Slurpee was created in May 1967. Today on average, more than 32 million Slurpee drinks are consumed every month, an average of more than 1 million each day."
