Fleur de Force Reveals Book Cover

Back in February YouTube beauty sensation Fleur de Force released some exciting news about coming out with her second book. Well, just a few days ago she released the official book cover, which looks totally lavish.

Luxe Life: Everyday Luxuries for lovers of Beauty, Fashion, & Food will be released on July 28th. The book covers fashion and beauty advice, budget-friendly hosting hacks, lifestyle and decor tips, DIY Gift Ideas, and over 30 delicious recipes.

"Every girl deserves a little bit of luxe in her life, and top beauty and fashion vlogger Fleur de Force - Sunday Times best selling author of The Glam Guide -- knows exactly how to get it. Luxe living is all about becoming your best self - the one you've always wanted to be - and making it look effortless. It's about making everyday feel special and knowing that a little bit of extra effort in any aspect of your life goes a long way."

As far as I have seen, this book is only available for pre-order in the UK.
I honestly don't know if it will be released in the US on the publishing date, but like her first book, I'm sure you'll be able to get your hands on it a little more easily in the future.

I have been watching Fleur on YouTube since I discovered her along with fellow YouTuber Ingrid about four years ago. I enjoy her style, personality, and content quality. I don't have her first book yet, however I'd love to get my hands on both of them!

God Bless America

To some people Memorial Day is just another day -- usually a day off work where it's spent BBQing by the pool with friends, or relaxing on the couch enjoying a 3-day-weekend.

There is so much more to it than that.

Memorial Day is especially important as we are reminded almost daily of the sacrifices that the men and women of the Armed Forces make to defend our way of life.

"These fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor - and a nation who has fought many battles to keep our country free from threats of terror."

Your life is the greatest gift you can give your country, and today -- on Memorial Day, we honor those who did just that. I am lucky enough to call those hero's my family. I am the granddaughter of two extraordinary men who died for our country, and I couldn't be more thankful and proud.

I hope that every citizen can take a moment on this day to remember those members serving our country who are currently in harms way, and say a small prayer for them to return home safely.

"And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me." - Lee Greenwood

Kylie Lip Kit -- New Color Revealed

Kylie Jenner's new lipkit color is cool, but probably very hard to wear if you have a simplistic style like myself. Kylie released a new color -- Majesty on May 24th, saying she was just too excited to keep it a secret any longer.

Although it's not pink or nude, it's sure to sellout quickly just like the rest of her shades. The black/blue metal matte color is "obviously not for the faint of heart -- it's bold, dramatic, and very dark." I guarantee you'll probably get a lot of attention while wearing this color.

What do you think about this new lipkit shade? Would you purchase it.... if you had the chance?
It looks like black is a popular color this Spring/Summer which is surprising.

Mermaid Tail Blankets

After I got a quick snapchat from my friend and fellow blogger Chrissy (AKissOfSkinny) of one of these mermaid blankets she bought, I have been totally obsessed with them ever since. I immediately searched all over for them, and it tuns out that they are pretty popular on Etsy.

It's unfortunate that all of them range between $50-$125 depending on the size and quality. All of them seem to be hand knitted in different colors and sold by many different users on the site. I have found that it's hard to find larger sizes because most of them are long enough for kids.

The above pictures are the three adult sizes I've found with the colors that I love. Have you seen these blankets before? If so, where have you gotten your from? I'd love to know.

Have a wonderful Sunday night.

Makeup Hacks

There are tons of pins on Pinterest and videos on YouTube that feature makeup hacks that seem pretty genius, but do they actually work? I've found that most of them fail, however a few of them actually work, and some I incorporate in my everyday makeup routine.

Picking the right foundation -- A lot of people test foundation on their forearm or wrist because it is convenient, however you don't get a true color because your face is usually a couple tones lighter than your arm. Make sure you're in the best natural light you can find, and swatch a few different shades on the bottom side of your neck to find the perfect shade for you. Once I've found a shade that matches me I hold onto it -- I switch off between my Summer and Winter shades all year long.

Smudge Away -- Make your makeup look instantly sexier by smudging and softening your eyeliner. Even if you're not going for a smokey eye, apply a thin layer of non-liquid eyeliner to the top of your eyelid and smudge it out with an eyeliner sponge or thin eye brush. It will look so much better, and way more blendable.

Use highlighters -- I never knew the importance of highlighting until recently. Not only does it brighten your face to create a beautiful glow, but it highlights your strongest features. You can also apply a highlighter to the inner corner of your eye and right below your eyebrows to give you a more awake look.

Apply Mascara The Right Away -- Wiggle the applicator back and forth as you apply mascara to your top lashes. Keep doing this until they appear full and thick.

Use Scotch Tape -- If you are in no way a professional at applying makeup like myself, sometimes you just need a little help. The scotch tape trick actually works. Place a small piece on the corner of your eye to use as a base in order to get the perfect winged eye look.

Cover Under-Eye Circles -- This is a trick that I recently just started doing that I was totally impressed by. If you apply a small amount of red lipstick under your eye, blend it in real well, and then add concealer. This will completely cover any under eye circles you have.

Make Lipstick Last All Day -- After applying your lipstick, blot with a tissue, and then dust translucent powder to seal in place... Trust me, your lipstick will stay for hours upon hours. It's impressive.

Balancing in Heels by Kristin Cavallari

Balancing in Heels by Kristin Cavallari
For the first time ever, entrepreneur, designer and TV star Kristin Cavallari shares how she juggles all facets of her busy life with style and grace.  From outlining health and wellness, food, fitness, fashion, and her success as a businesswoman to more private matters of family, motherhood, and her relationship with her husband, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, Kristin leaves no stone unturned to give fans of Laguna Beach and The Hills all of the answers they're been looking for.

First things first, this book is pretty.  It's filled with gorgeous pictures of Kristin and her family, delicious looking recipes and of course, her shoe line.  It makes for a great coffee table book even after you're finished reading.  I've been following Kristin since her days on Laguna Beach, so to see how far she's came is truly inspiring.

Balancing in Heels starts off at the beginning of the Laguna Beach days and takes you up to the present of her family life - not in much deep detail though.  If you're hoping for any juicy, behind the scenes info, you're not going to find it here.  My favorite sections were actually the ones not about Kristin's personal life, but the ones about health and beauty.  You can tell she feels more comfortable discussing these things and shares a lot about what she's learned in terms of eating healthily and natural ways to care for your body.

Lots of pretty easy recipes are included which I appreciate and can't wait to try!  I also loved that she mentioned a few of her favorite products because lets be honest, the girl has amazing skin.  She attributes most of it to the real food based diet that they eat, but also recommends specific products that have made a difference.

Overall, I enjoyed this book.  It's a super easy read and I did take quite a few things away in regards to healthy eating and beauty/style recommendations which I personally always love.

Final Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Batiste Dry Shampoo - Review

I've been buying Batiste Dry shampoo products for a couple years, and until now I finally found the two fragrance products that are my favorite -- Cheery and Blush (not pictured). I tried Wild and Fresh -- but ended up not liking the smell. Eventually, I'd like to try Floral Essence and the Light & Blonde Tinted Dry Shampoo.

My hair gets oily fast, I could wash it at night and then the next morning it could already be oily and looking super gross. I use dry shampoo at least a few times a week. Naturally it's not good to wash your hair every day but with Batiste I can have 2 or 3 day hair without anybody even knowing. I've used other brands, but nothing compares to how well this works. Every girl needs a can of this in her bathroom. Check out the before and after results down below!

BEFORE : 2 Day Hair -- Fine, Flat, and VERY Oily.

DURING : Spray the scalp with the Batiste Dry Shampoo.

AFTER: Massage into hair and rub in to absorb the oil.

FINAL RESULTS! -- no more oil and it smells amazing!

Luxury Lip Balm

I will gladly label myself as a lip balm addict. It has become a daily essential and it has gotten to the point where I'd feel strange if there wasn't one near me at all times. Since high school, when I had to take Accutane, (a strong acne medication) my skin has been prone to dryness -- especially my lips.

I have had a bad habit of picking them when they get dry, which is why it's crucial for them to stay hydrated and moisturized. Pink is my favorite color, rose is one of my favorite scents, which is why I have listed just about the BEST seven lip balms on the market.

I've done some research, and not only is the packaging to-die-for but the quality of ingredients in these products is incredible. They all range with a steep price tag (minus one) -- but they will last a long time and will be worth the money if you want soft, smooth, hydrated and kissable lips. I had a lot of fun putting this collage together and will definitely have to take a trip to Sephora for some re-stocking soon!

The perfect brightening pick-me-up for tired and dry lips. Formulated with restructing ceramides, protective Vitamin E and concentrated shea butter, this soft formula enhances and replenishes lips, leaving a soft subtle sheen, containing 48 nourishing ingredients.

A comfortable non-greasy lip balm that soothes and protects the lips. Specially formulated with wheat germ and avocado and olive oils, it provides immediate comfort while aloe vera and beeswax hydrates the lips.

Adds the perfect pop of color while conditioning your lips, all while diminishing the appearance of fine lines. It's infused with emollient Viamerine and gives a signature floral scent.

What a steal! This is a cult favorite of mine for many years. It calms and heals irritation, and soothes the sting of minor burns. This is a nourishing remedy not only for your lips, but your entire body.

A must-have for damaged lips. All it's nourishing power comes from the rare and precious Damask Rose essential oil extract, mixed together with an anti-aging complex and shea butter.

This innovative formula moisturizes and adds a flushed tint to your lips. It contains a pigment that reacts with the skin's humidity. The water-soaked hyaluronic spheres fill in lines to increase volume. It's rich in fatty acids and makes the lips extra soft with lipid-replenishing Luffa Oil.

With organic virgin coconut oil and hydrating rose absolute this product works to help protect, smooth, and soften lips. The best part, it contains absolutely no artificial ingredients, parabens, or fillers.

Mango butter moisturizes, apricot berry protects against winds, and lingonberry oil locks in hydration. Not only does this smell incredible, but the non-greasy formula melts across your lips for a dewy feel.

An ultra-nourishing formula housed in a sleek pot that smooths and soften lips. Sea fennel extract improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth area. Total luxury.

Sick Puppy -- Update

This past weekend was "ruff"(pun intended)... I caught a bad cold from Justin who is recovering from Bronchitis. We both pretty much slept all weekend.

Today is the first day I'm actually starting to feel a little better, as well as himself. I was able to get out of my pajamas, put a little makeup on, and get some things done.

I needed to get my car in for an oil change, so I dropped it off at Tire Pros. Justin and I walked to get some lunch while we waited. We ordered a little too much food for lunch so the left over wrapped tacos we couldn't eat were given to the homeless man outside the door. He was so grateful to be getting a little bit of food in his stomach and his reaction totally made my day.

It's the little things that matter the most in life. Justin and I leave for Concord next weekend to visit his cousin Stacy. While we are down there, we'll be going to the 2016 Bay Area Craft Beer Festival at Martinez Waterfront Park, so that'll be fun!

Have a lovely and productive week.
xoxo  Christine.

Gloss - Kylie Cosmetics

In a new video posted to YouTube by Kylie Cosmetics on Thursday, March 31st, Kylie Jenner  introduces a different type of Lip Kit: glosses.
"In the action-oriented clip, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 18, drives up in a getaway car, wearing a snake skin crop top and matching flares, while her girlfriends pretend to make a deal with some black market retailers of her kits (shading distributors of her matte shades for selling them at outrageous prices)After the girls — who all sport strong brows and bronzed contours along with shiny lips in various shades — beat up the men inside, they drive away with Jenner in her convertible with cash and lip kits in hand. The words, "Like Literally So Cute," flash on the screen as they speed off."
Her kits literally SELL OUT within minutes... Last re-stock she broke Google.
I've been trying to get my hands on a lip kit forever now. Praise those of you who got through.
What do you think of the gloss? I really like how she branched out from the matte shades. BRAVA!

Body Motivation - Monday Inspiration

Finding the motivation to get healthy and work out is one of the hardest things. I start finding more motivation when the weather changes, it starts to get warm and Spring is in full bloom.

This week it's suppose to be in the high 80's and even reach up to 93 degrees -- which in California is common, but I am not ready for this heat. I love to find inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram, there are so many motivating accounts and images that I'm sure you'll enjoy as well.

- Do it for the body you've always wanted.
- Would you rather be covered in sweat at the gym, or covered in clothes at the beach?
- Make your body the sexiest outfit you own.
- Hard work and a clean diet, that's all it takes.
- Pain is just weakness leaving your body.
- Believe in yourself.
- Stop thinking, just do it.
- Don't quit. You're already in pain. You're already hurt. Get a reward from it.

- It's not about becoming perfect. It's about effort. And when you bring that effort every single day, that's where transformation happens. That's how change occurs.

I hope you find gain some motivation from this post.
I'm going to go drink a bottle of water and walk my dog now.
xoxo
